Lesbians like short hair cuts. This is not to say that all lesbians have short hair cuts. But it is a fair statement to say, “a lot of lesbians have short hair.” In fact, if a straight woman has a short do, she is often mistaken for a lesbian. I had an overbearing loud bossy boss who I was SURE was a lesbian on account of her short hair cut. Turned out she has a husband and two kids. I’m certain she had sexual encounters with women in college though…
The point is, lesbians love short hair cuts. Lately the style is kind of the teen age boy comb over look. Some go for the all out faux-hawk, which is making its way out. Some of the old lesbians still maintain their mullets, in spite of all the anti-mullet sentiments in the 21st century.

Where do lesbians get those short haircuts that only lesbians have? I hope you know what I mean…but there’s something about them and you don’t see them anywhere else. Generally short, a little edgy, very original. I myself would love one of those lesbian haircuts…but as a lesbian who just came out and has pretty much no gay friends…I have no idea where to go.

I have had trouble in this area as well. The best advice I can give is to find a picture of a haircut you like and bring it in when you go. And don’t go to some cheap place like supercuts. You have to go somewhere where they are creative and professional. But bring a picture, because often times things like “I want it soft around my ears, not too butch” aren’t comprehended, and you can end up with a crew cut.
