Lesbians love chick singers. Whether its the Indigo Girls, Tegan and Sara, Joan Jett, KD Lang, Melissa Etheridge, or Ani DiFranco, you can bet that in the audience of a live show there will be hoards of lesbians. And for good reason. Who doesn’t love a hot chick on stage, pounding on her guitar strings and screaming her heart into the mike? There are a lot of up and coming chick singers. Brandi Carlile (hott and amazing)…Ingrid Michaelson…A Fine Frenzy…Tristan Prettyman…just to name a few.

This may be one of the only things that lesbians and straight guys disagree on. Girls? Check. Grillling? Check. Sports? Check. (I’d personally rather tie my pubic hair into sheepshanks, but that’s me.)
But as for music, we diverge. I’ve never met a lesbian that liked metal. I’m sure they exist, but they seem as rare as a straight guy who really has gay friends and not just a token from high school that he is “pretty sure” was gay. (I wonder if that guy is out of the closet yet.)
Maybe it is the retarded sexuality and the lyrics about goblins, but most guys who like metal get the joke–though clearly a horde of teenaged boys do not. Pity.
So can a lesbian out there clear this up for me? Why do we share so much, and yet our iPods could never mingle without mutually destroying each other?
